Established in 1977, EMA (Equitable Marketing Association) prefers to introduce itself as a catalyst for promoting socio-economic justice. Registered under the West Bengal Registration of Societies Act, EMA works with about 2500 craftspersons who interact directly with it, or through various types of legal entities such as cooperative socities, voluntary organizations etc. EMA extends various types of services to the craftspersons, such as interest free loans to enable production, administrative, managerial, marketing and vocational training, designs, procurement of raw materials, etc. and export marketing. EMA’s operational principles include total rejection of child labour, gender equity, preferential support for people who are marginalized by physical, social, economic, caste or religious factors.
