Being an entrepreneur is equal parts thrilling and challenging. Having a positive outlook can be the single most important factor in determining success because our thoughts are the architect of our actions. However, being human, it is possible that in times of extreme challenges, entrepreneurs experience a dip in this natural positivity, which can in turn negatively impact their business.
So what is the secret to remaining upbeat and positive in the face of challenging circumstances? There are in fact several ways to harness positivity in your life, which not only enables you to derive maximum joy from all endeavours but also ensures that you excel in business and keep your team morale high.
On this #EntrepreneurMonday, we bring to you some simple tips by which you can remain optimistic and spread positive energy all around you.
1. Pause & Reflect
One of the reasons entrepreneurs ‘stress out’ is that in order to attain their goals, they forget to take much-needed breaks. While every task may be important, you must not forget to take regular breaks. Even if it’s a 15-minute walk after lunch, or three to four 5 minute breaks throughout the day, you must take short breaks and come back rejuvenated to your work. Make some time for yourself, which will help you stay positive and also enable you to reflect on everything that is important for you.
2. Pursue A Hobby
Having a hobby, which makes you happy and is different from your work will help you in having a positive outlook in your life. It is said that reading fiction enhances connectivity in the brain and makes a person more emphatic as they are able to relate to their favourite characters as if they were real. Similarly, listening to your favourite music or taking part in sports too enable in harnessing the power to remain positive. Being involved in your favourite hobby will also enhance your productivity at work.
3. Spread Happiness
There might be a lot of people around you who are gloomy and can bring your energy down. Being around people who constantly complain and talk about how bad things are might have a gradual effect on you. Either steer clear of them or limit your time with them. Don’t let their negative energy get to you. Stay happy and make others happy too.
4. Help Others
Helping others is a great way to bring positivity in your life. There are several organisations where you can volunteer. Find one that supports a subject you feel passionate about and start helping others. You can also organise events to raise funds for a good cause. This will lift your spirits and bring positivity in your life. US President Barack Obama had said, “The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”
5. Spend Time With Family & Friends
“If you want to do really important things and big things in life, you can't do anything by yourself. And your best teams are your friends and your siblings,” opined Deepak Chopra, author and public speaker. So enjoy your time when with family and friends as they are the ones with whom you can relax. You can play video games, cook dinner, go for walks or just sit and chat. Having a relaxed time with friends or family members instantly boosts the mood and lets in positive energy within you.
Oprah Winfrey really got to the heart of the matter when she said, “The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude”. And entrepreneurs are known to create changes. Stay positive and change your future! So what are you waiting for?
